Arriving in Jakarta

We arrived in Jakarta after a 10 hour flight from Auckland stopping in Sydney Australia. Walking out of the airport in the dark (7 pm) we were blasted by the incredible equatorial heat (90) and near 100% humidity, we then were beseiged by money changers, taxi drivers, beggars. We made it to our 5 star hotel which was weird considering the surrounding city. It had guards at gate and metal detectors looking for bombs . Several western hotels have. Even blown up in past few years by terrorists. Karen froze in our too cold room.
