A peddler offered to meet me at sunrise to take me to the local market. I met him at the beach the next morning ( our last day at Tulamben ) . We hopped on his motorbike and off we went. The market was packed with hundreds of locals, I saw no other westerners. Tiny stalls were filled with veggies, baked goods, grains, fish, clothing, knives, cooked food, even a water buffalo auction. Some of the food looked good but I was afraid to try it. Eric would have tried the pig head. I bought a couple Batik items. There wasn't a price tag in the market, all bargaining . The twice a week market opens at 5am and closes shortly after 9am when the sun becomes hot.
