Our resort is owned by an Italian but run by local Indonesians. It's small, only a dozen or so cottages. The food, which is included , is great. Booze is extra and because of our extreme isolation, is pricey. We are right on the equator and at the northern most point of the Indonesian archipelago ( Indonesia is made up of over 17,000 islands). To our west is Borneo, to the north is the Philipines , and to our east New Guinea. The resort employs islanders ( see photo )and supplies some electricity to homes. Siladen is considered an eco friendly green resort . Like Bali, the buildings are mahogany with thatched roofs. Bali usually had stone floors, here all floors are polished mahogany planks. I just asked a local when the last time the volcano erupted, he said last week !!
