Walk to town

Karen and I decided to take a walk to town , Padre Burgos, about two miles away. The government built concrete road wandered by occasional small thatched houses. We walked in the shade when possible as the equatorial sun was so hot. Children came running out of houses when they saw us, laughing and smiling, saying hello. Adults all said hello too, seemingly slightly amused by us tourists.
One of the things that impressed us was how neat and trash free the roads and houses were. Unlike many other third world countries we've visited, the Philippinos seem to take some pride in their surroundings, despite how poor they are.
The road ran along the beach. As we approached town, we started to see chickens tied to leashes on road side fences, plus a few goats here and there. We wandered around town in an unsuccessful search for somewhere to have lunch. The few stores sold the basics but no restaurants were to be found. The locals cant afford dining out and the absence of tourists doesn't  help. I bought some delicious tiny bananas before we headed back to our hotel in a Hubble-Hubble.
Photos; firewood for sale, coconut and squid drying , private flower garden, palm grove in town, Karen resting by harbor, cell phone ads on fence. Metal barbecue box ( they did their cooking out doors in these simple stoves)
