On a walk thru a village along the banks of the Perfume River, I came upon a group of 14 year old boys with a long ( 12 ft ) pole. They had placed a glob of some natural sticky substance on the tip of the pole. They then probed a tree and captured huge Cicada. I watched for awhile but could never spot the giant bugs. They brought the bugs down stuck to the pole's tip. One of the boys grabbed the Cicada and quickly pulled the wings off. He then deftly threaded it on a string along with dozens of others. All the while the Cicada was buzzing loudly. The whole string was alive and twitching. They will take them home and Mamasan will stir fry them in oil, a Vietnamese delicacy,
That's crazy!!! I spent an hour last night going thru all your recent posts and I can't believe the things you guys are seeing and eating. Mandy and I can't imagine traveling to places like Vietnam. Be careful.
