The Bosphorus

Our hotel is only 2 blocks from the water so we walked down for the sunset. The Bosphorus is a 1 mile wide channel that connects the Mediterranean Sea with the Black Sea. Russia lies on the north shore of the Black Sea, the border is not far from here. Istanbul straddles this channel with the divided city on both sides. The east side is Asia and the west side is Europe, the dividing point of two continents. Many people work on one side and live on the other, we watched them board ferries for their rides home after work . It was mild spring evening and the commuters were enjoying the warm sun. The water is a beautiful dark turquoise blue, clean and clear. Our hotel is on the European side of the city. These waterfront views look out towards Asia.
