Hue

This city appears to be a major tourist destination. Most tourists appear to be Australian with a sprinkling of various Europeans and a few Americans. The back streets are lined with tiny hotels ( ours has 10 rooms ) and restaurants. I was rather smug about only paying $20 a nite till I met a Latvian who is paying $8 a day for a clean room with fresh linens daily. He was my age and has been traveling Cambodia, Thailand, and Vietnam for under$ 10 a day including food. He's been on the road 2 months. The temperature reached over 100 with very high humidity so Karen took a siesta while I roamed the city. I kept walking till I saw no more tourists. I stopped in a cafe and ordered a beer, she brought me a hot beer, and a glass with one ice cube ( 50 cents ). I sat in the shade and watched the world go by. Later I peaked inside a school gate, the kids were laughing and friendly. I wandered thru another market, a fun afternoon. The dragon boats take tourists out on river rides, the said they would go with only one person !!
