Random Athens Shots

We leave Athens today, we are flying to Crete, I had not been looking forward to Athens, I'd read about crime, air pollution , congestion, etc. I found the scale of the city very human, pedestrian friendly, safe, sparkling clean air, and full of wonderful back streets, small restaurants and shops. Athenians take pride in their city, it shows in the clean sidewalks, painted houses, and friendly atmosphere . I am not a city person but Athens gets a thumbs up.
