Santorini Architecture

There are no beaches on Santorini. The town is built hanging over the sheer cliffs, 1000 feet above the caldera , a huge central lagoon surrounding the collapsed volcanic cone sticking out of the blue water. The buildings are stepped down the slope, each floor projecting out below the one above. From a distance, they look like snow covered mountains. At nite they appear like jeweled frosting on a cake. The effect is beautiful and unique. Long stone paved
